Exploring how age, inclusion and well-being intersect in the modern workplace.

Introduction

Well-being is at the heart of inclusion – at The Age Diversity Forum, we believe that supporting people through every stage of life is essential to building workplaces that are fair, resilient and sustainable.

As employees move through different life phases, their wellbeing needs evolve, from early-career pressures and financial stress to caring responsibilities, health transitions and the search for purpose in later life. Yet despite these differences, one truth remains constant: when organisations value people of every age, everyone’s well-being improves.

“Age inclusion isn’t just about opportunity  – it’s about belonging,

balance and well-being for every generation”

This area of our work explores how well-being, mental health and the menopause are all connected to age diversity. Each theme highlights how an age-inclusive approach creates understanding, empathy and shared strength across generations.

Our Approach

We combine evidence, lived experience and collaboration to understand how age affects well-being.

Through our research and partnerships, we are developing practical insights and case studies that show how inclusive cultures can:

  • Support well-being across all life stages.

  • Address mental health through an inter-generational lens.

  • Recognise and respond to gendered and age-related health issues, such as the menopause.

  • Strengthen organisational performance through empathy and respect.

Our goal is simple, to help organisations design well-being strategies that work for every age, not just one stage of life.

Why It Matters

An age-inclusive approach to well-being benefits everyone. It promotes understanding between generations, reduces stigma, and builds environments where people can bring their whole selves to work, with dignity, flexibility and support.

As the workforce becomes increasingly multi-generational, well-being will depend on policies and cultures that recognise the continuum of working life.

“A healthy workforce is an inclusive workforce, and inclusion begins with understanding”
