Camelia Gamee | Resourcing Partner | FOS
We are delighted to showcase this blog from Camelia Gamee, Resourcing Partner at Age Diversity Champion Partners, the Financial Ombudsman Service (FOS). This clearly reflects the strength of inclusion values within the organisation, and how the FOS utilise the Champion programme to instil inclusive practices.
“I have worked at The Financial Ombudsman Service for two years now and what I love about the organisation is how much the service strives for inclusivity. My time here at the Financial Ombudsman Service has shown me how well an organisation can reflect the diversity of their customer base. We support consumers from all walks of life and it is important that our service and our employees reflect this.
Here at the service we recognise the importance of recruiting and retaining talent at all ages. We understand older workers looking to enter or re-enter the workforce find it generally harder than other age-groups to find new employment, often as a result of discrimination or bias on the part of employers and recruiters.
As an Age Diversity Champion, the Financial Ombudsman Service welcomes all candidates from all walks of life and appreciate the skills and talent an older applicant can bring to the role. 21% of our workforce are over 45 and we know that the real benefit of age diversity comes from the mix of both younger and older employees working together and benefitting from mutual learning, mentoring and sharing or ideas and perspectives. As champions, we want to encourage all organisations to follow suit and recognise the importance of recruiting older talent.
If you are interested in knowing more about our service and what opportunities we have coming up, head to the Financial Ombudsman Service website here.
Some more great news, we are recruiting right now! Our investigators are at the heart of what we do. Investigators are usually the first to speak to our consumers and, if a business has done something wrong, they will help to put things right. People contact our service because they have a complaint about a financial business, and they’re unhappy with the business’s response.
We aren’t looking for people with extensive financial knowledge, this role is about using your analytical skills, your ability to listen and evaluate what you’re hearing, being curious and asking the right questions – ultimately you are someone who wants to make a difference to people’s lives.
If this sounds of interest or you want to find out more about the role, read the advert on the Age Diversity Forum’s careers page.”
